Qualcomm showed something great
It can not be hidden that the fingerprint scanners used so far in the screen were at most good. A particularly unpleasant surprise was the detection of a serious security vulnerability in Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 +, Note 10 and Note 10+. Namely, using a non-original screen foil, you could fool the fingerprint reader on the Samsung Galaxy S10. Some said it was just a stupid rumor, but one of the Korean banks suggested that their clients not use this method of authentication on their smartphone. Also Polish banks have noticed the problem with fingerprint readers in Samsung smartphones.
Qualcomm came with the solution. The Americans unveiled their new fingerprint reader, 3D Sonic Max. It is much safer compared to the current generation of their scanners and the chance of getting an incorrect finger scan result that could unlock the phone to an unauthorized person is 1: 1,000,000 instead of 1: 50,000.
In addition, the scanner offers a scanning surface that is 17 times larger. In my opinion, this is a great thing and it makes such technology much more sense. The plus is also the fact that thanks to this it will be possible to unlock the smartphone by scanning two fingers simultaneously (sic!). In addition, the manufacturer boasted of improving the speed of operation, but here there were no numbers.
We can expect that the 3D Sonic Max scanner will be used in many high-end devices in 2020 and among them Samsung Galaxy S11 will probably appear as well. I have to admit that Qualcomm has prepared an extremely good solution that looks great and I hope that it will work just as well on a daily basis.
