As expected, Netflix today unveiled the full, over two-minute trailer of the Witcher series, starring Henry Cavill. We haven't had such a comprehensive look at the key figure of the series and I have to admit that if I could feel unconvinced by his creation so far, now I have changed my mind and I think it was the right choice. I wonder if I will have a similar opinion after the screening of The Witcher's first season.
The Witcher release date on Netflix
As previously speculated, the Witcher will debut on Netflix on December 20. This date appeared in earlier rumors, but it became almost certain when we learned that around 16-17 December special shows of the first episodes will be organized at various events. So it is already clear – just before Christmas we will get the entire first Witcher season on Netflix.
The Witcher trailer – American show!
It should not surprise anyone that the Witcher will not be a series bent on Slavic atmosphere, music and creation. High-budget production is largely based on Sapkowski's prose, but it is a project that is intended to reach a wide audience in every corner of the world and to their liking, regardless of whether they have read books or several longer game sessions behind them, or not. This can be seen in the trailer, which shows how much material comes from books, but at the same time how many issues have been re-included or introduced by the creators of the series.
Information about the cast – Henry Cavill will be played by Henry Cavill (Mission Impossible – Fallout, Justice League), and the other main roles will be starring Anya Chalotra (A.B.C., Wanderlust) as Yennefer and Freya Allan (War of the Worlds, Land of Lawlessness) as Ciri. The other roles will include: Jodhi May (Game of Thrones, Genius) as Calanthe, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson (Fortitude) as Eist, Adam Levy (Knightfall, Przekręty) as Mouse Hunter, MyAnna Buring (Ripper Street: The Secret of Jack the Ripper, List of paid orders ) as Tissaia, Mimi Ndiweni (Black Earth Rising) as Fringilla, Therica Wilson-Read (Profile) as Sabrina, Millie Brady (Kingdom Fall, Teen Spirit) as Renfri, Eamon Farren (ABC, Twin Peaks) as Cahir, Joey Batey ( Templars, Cormoran Strike) as Jaskier, Lars Mikkelsen (House of Cards, Sherlock) as Stregobor, Royce Pierreson (Wanderlust, Judy) as Istredd, Maciej Musiał (1983) as Sir Lazlo, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte (Jamillah & Aladdin, Dickensian) as Dara and Anna Shaffer (Harry Potter) as Triss.
