Association Your Case

As the Your Case Association says on its pages, it is an entity dealing with the protection of children and young people against access to pornography, I will make use of the content that is available on the Association's website:

First, we protect children and young people from uncontrolled and too easy access to pornography. We want to protect minors against pornobusiness, which we do not accept in the mainstream culture. As part of these activities, we run educational campaigns and campaigns, as well as train parents to be able to talk to their children about the problem of pornography.

Secondly, we take actions to eliminate from the public space all manifestations of obscenity, sexualization and objectification of women, vulgarity and the broadly understood violation of decency in advertising and the media. We do this by educating and popularizing current scientific research on the harmful effects of sexualization on children and young people. We also organize consumer campaigns, enabling parents and everyone else to express an opinion on advertising and other messages present in public space.

The Twój Spraw Spraw association also works for entrepreneurs who want ads and marketing campaigns not to violate applicable Polish regulations, mainly regarding advertising ethics. It is worth referring to the fact that STS caused the company Waterius Sp. z o.o., the producer of the Devil Energy Drink (with a perverse advertising, in which the child appeared in an "unequivocal" situation) was forced to pay PLN 60,000 to a foundation dealing with Polish students from the East. This association was the most important entity that fought to punish the producer.

STS spokesperson is Ms. Izabela Karska, PR adviser and psychologist – very often speaking about the topic of pornography on the Internet and its impact on children and young people. Ms. Izabela is an activist working to limit the access of children and young people to pornography and is probably one of the originators of the bill.

Restricting access to pornography will be difficult

I can't resist the impression that it will be difficult. The Your Case Association probably has good intentions, but … you know. I am not a fan of regulating conscience with provisions that may simply be "dead". But, I will mention British plans to introduce similar restrictions on pornography – they also wanted to implement legal mechanisms imposing an obligation on the content provider to verify age. The relevant authority was to check that the means employed by the site were sufficient. However, in October we learned that the plans to introduce restrictions had been abandoned due to … difficulties in implementing an effective verification mechanism. Things have been tried – from a 'porn pass' to checking credit cards. Moreover, the British government noticed that it did not inform the EU (despite media hype) about its plans officially, which may soon be no problem due to Brexit. But, despite all, plans for restrictions on pornography in Great Britain have been suspended for now.

Who lost the most? Companies that sensed the chances of earning money and decided to create their own age verification solutions (in order to sell them to pornographic distributors). These, however, can try their hand because of what may soon become in Poland. It's just that I'm still not sure if we should play in the law, which will be very difficult to enforce because of the important features of the internet.
